META ADS · PRACTICAL GUIDE
Meta catalog ads and retargeting for Shopify stores
Connect accurate product data with a considered follow-up strategy.
Begin with catalog quality
Check product titles, images, availability, prices, links, and variant information. An ad cannot provide a useful shopping experience if it leads to the wrong product or displays outdated details. Resolve feed issues before expanding delivery.
Connect product events carefully
Review how storefront product identifiers relate to catalog items. Test product and cart activity through the supported integration. Treat diagnostics as a maintenance task, especially after catalog restructuring or app changes.
Plan follow-up around customer intent
A visitor researching a product may need different information from an existing customer considering a repeat order. Use the controls and audience options currently available in the account. Respect consent requirements and avoid treating retargeting as permission to collect unlimited personal data.
Review incremental value
Monitor costs, purchase patterns, and creative fatigue alongside attributed revenue. Retargeting reports can include customers who were already likely to return, so reported ROAS is not proof that every sale was caused by the ad. Refresh messages and keep product information accurate. Catalog ads are commonly called dynamic product ads, but current Meta naming and options can change.
